Comanche County Memorial Hospital’s Foundation has been able to fund numerous projects over the years that benefit patients, staff, and the community.

Sandy Foster, the manager of the Comanche County Memorial Hospital Foundation, said the group helps purchase technology and equipment to help patients, and it also supports nurses to further their education.

“We are established to meet those needs,” Foster said. “We have a doctor, we’ve got a provider, we have a nurse who says ‘hey, you know we really see a need for this and the only way that we’re gonna do it is if the foundation comes in and helps us out,’ so that’s really what we try to do as the foundation and we couldn’t do it without the generous support of our community”

Foster says they’re using money raised this year through generous donations like the Jersey Mike’s Day of Giving, where more than $15,000 was raised, the annual Starlight Gala, and community donations to purchase a safe haven box, a compassionate and secure option for mothers in crisis who are unable to care for their newborn.

“These boxes are set up at different fire stations across the nation,” Foster said. “We are going to have it set up here at Fire Station #5.”

She said the box has been purchased, and they’re working to finalize agreements to get it set up. Another thing the foundation is working on is buying monitors for pediatric beds.

“They came to us and said, ‘you know, we’re having to send a lot of patients to Oklahoma City. We don’t like doing that because it puts a burden on our families. So, if we can bring in these baby monitors, put in the nurses’ station monitors, so that we’ve got that capability, then we’re gonna be able to serve our patients better.’ So that’s another thing that we’re doing,” Foster said.

Other things they’ve done over the years are purchase the Da Vinci Robot, where they just celebrated 3,000 surgeries, and helped expand the emergency room to give doctors and nurses more space to help more patients as they come in.

“When you look at what’s gonna benefit the community, for me, that’s the foundation. It’s really that money stays right here in our community and benefits the community, the patient, the families of Comanche County Memorial Hospital,” Foster said.

If you want to give to the foundation, you can do so by going to CCMHgiving.com. Foster said you can designate your donation to go to a specific fund if you want.
