Hospital Week: a time for everyone who works at hospitals to be celebrated and thanked for everything they do for their community, just wrapped up.
During Hospital Week, Comanche County Memorial Hospital hosted a number of different events to show their appreciation.
“We’re all here for the same mission,” said David Lyon, the Radiology Director at CCMH. “And it’s to provide great care for our community.”
One of the staff’s favorite events is the picnic, where hospital leadership serves lunch while hospital staff get to sit down and spend some time together.
“It’s terrific that we’re being celebrated,” he said. “I appreciate it every year that our administration does this for us every year and provides a great time for our employees.”
Roger Brown, an MRI technologist at CCMH, said he wanted to join the medical field after getting out of the military. He found his place and passion at Comanche County Memorial Hospital six years ago.
“I started out doing X-ray and then I moved up to MRI,” he said. “Also, the patient interaction is very important to me, and I’m pretty good at it, so I like to impact people’s lives that way and also provide excellent patient care for them while doing something that I love to do.”
Those who’ve been at CCMH for 20, 25, and 30 years were all honored at the Employee Service Awards banquet.
“We want to recognize them for all of the service that they’ve given through tough times,” said Natalie Fitch, the chairperson of the trustee board for CCMH. “We’ve had COVID and other things, and they have always stood by the hospital and our patients.”
Letitia Robinson, a Health Information Technician at CCMH, was one of those recognized. She’s been at the hospital for 30 years. Robinson says the atmosphere and people are what have kept her there for so many years.
“I love what I do,” Robinson. “I love the people I work with. It makes it easy to stay where you are.”
Special theme days like “you’re a big deal” and the picnic is appreciated, but Robinson said that’s not why she does what she does.
“It’s nice to be appreciated, but we don’t do it just for the thank you,” Robinson said. “We do it because we love it, but throughout the year, the hospital shows their appreciation towards us, and every now and then, your boss will tell you, ‘hey, thank you. We appreciate all the hard work that you do.’”
